After months of hot sunshine personally we are delighted  to see rain (and have been known to dance on the terrace outside our office in a downpour!) But just in case you get a rainy day, a few local suggestions, and if you have any others please send them in and we will add them.  Don’t worry if there is a shower on your special day, a good event planner always has a Plan B…...! Watch out for rainbows.

Pamper: Book into the steam room and massage in the hammam in Chania

Hire a car or taxi with driver for a day and explore the other side of the island- chances are it is not raining everywhere. Get a map and village hop

Bar hop: grab an umbrella and wander along the back streets stopping at the little cafes, bars, restaurants and finally, cocktail bars! Get talking to the locals, play a game of Tavli.

Book a winery tour or tasting. Most wine shops offer a wine and food tasting session.

Learn something : book a Cretan cookery lesson, dancing, crafts or language lesson.

Keep fit: gyms, Pilates, cross fit, Yoga including dance classes are everywhere. Indoor swimming pool.

On a budget, jump on the local bus and go to Heraklion. It's a scenic 2 hour journey, stop for lunch and explore the town centre. On the way back jump off at Rethymno for tea.

Cosy up with a film fest ! Buy in lots of delicious treats from the local deli ( cheeses, fresh bread, cold meats, salad, pastries and a good bottle of wine) or have a pizza delivered and watch Greek inspired films on your tablet!

Megaplace, Chania: all on one site, start with early afternoon bowling, spend time in the games room,  have dinner in the cafe with the best views in the area followed by an evening film.

Culture:  visit the naval museum, art galleries, local  exhibitions or  there is usually music happening in a taverna somewhere.
